Kayakers of the Hunter Valley & Lake Macquarie

I am now officially an ASS man! The Assateague is in the shed and it is beautiful. I am rostered off this weekend so if anyone wants to come and have a paddle somewhere or have a go of this awesome boat then let me know. I am now RUDDERLESS!

Ben, For a moment I thought you were describing me. Then I remembered, I've been prematurely bald for the past 40 plus years. See you in the morning.

Hi Brad, Owen & Phil, I hope to be there too - very keen to paddle with some others.
Look out for the short, prematurely bald bloke.

OK David, that's a pretty important thing to attend. Let us know when you're available to paddle.

Owen/Phil. I'm good to go at 8:00. See you there.

Brad said "Come on Gibbo! Where have you been? ".
Sorry Brad - I'll have to leave you guys to enjoy it in the morning.
I hope to paddle sometime over the weekend, but I just feel I should watch my father (84 yrs) tomorrow morning in the Anzac march.
Cheers
David

Klanners, Can we agree on an 0800 start from adjacent the Caravan Park (as per my earlier note). Nice, sheltered, sandy beach to launch from with plenty of car parking, (also not too far for me to paddle to from home). Prevailing weather conditions can then dictate our destiny (but "outside" looks very dicey). Owen

I just want to get wet so I don't care. Since my boat is at factory settings I could use some still water to get settled in. If it is going to be gnarly outside how about we go to Swansea as suggested and do some upside down work or edging. Maybe a cruise and some randomness.

Hello all

Updated forecast

Saturday: Wind: W/NW winds 20/25 knots, reaching 25/30 knots at times offshore.Sea: 2 metres inshore, rising to 2.5 to 3 metres offshore.Swell: E about 3 metres, breaking dangerously close inshore.

I won't be going anywhere near the heads then. As we are really wanting to perv at Brad's new boat I guess he calls it. I am keen to go where Owen recommends. Maybe we can slog into it and have fun if the chop builds up. What's the consensus?

cheers

Phil

Klanners, Thanks for the offer to help lift, but I'm ok to get my boat to the water at home, then paddle to the rendezvous. In view of the likely conditions, maybe Phil's suggestion of around the sand islands is the best. From there we can play in the channel, or go paddle the lake etc. A good launching spot is the reserve adjacent to the Swansea Gardens Caravan Park (and about a 30 minute paddle from home!), good parking, launching access, toilet etc. Start on SW side of Swansea bridge, TR into Channel St, TL into Wallarah St, TR into Dobinson Dr and proceed to reserve adjacent to caravan park. See attached Google detail.

Owen - do you have help for lifting at your end?
David
