Klanners, I recently purchased a new thermal/rashie type paddling top. It's a Burke "Evo Thermo Skin". Its a little lighter than the "Sharkskin" and IR "Thickskin", but a little heavier than the IR "Thinskin" and with a RRP of $65, its a fair bit cheaper than all of them. Like Henry Fords T Model, you can have any colour you like - as long as it's black! But it does have a bit of red and silver on it to lift it. It was designed for dinghy sailing, hence it is ideal for kayaking; its stretchy tight fitting, flat-lock seemed, fleecy lined as well as being wind and water
resistant.
I've now worn it on 3 good paddles and found it to be very comfortable. Yesterday in the light rain it kept me feeling dry and warm, but in today's sunshine (temp around 19 Deg C) I found I was a bit warmish (but not uncomfortably hot) when paddling fairly "seriously". I guess any black garment will amplify/absorb the heat from the sun. Another issue with black (I suppose) is it may fade/discolour fairly easily. However it will probably still look better than the other paddling clobber I wear! (
Please Note: The photo is not of my top, as mine seems to be a lot larger around the waist, especially when I'm wearing it)
