Kayakers of the Hunter Valley & Lake Macquarie

Hi all,
The car is packed and we head to Byron Bay in the morning for a Tuesday morning start. If you want to follow our progress keep an eye on the Manning Klan's site or search Facebook for Paddle For Peace and you should see the event.
Remember it is a fundraiser for people who have been the victims of violent crime and you can donate at www.vocal.org.au.
All the best
Simon
P.S. If anyone wants to catch up for a paddle with us as we head to Newcastle feel free.

Go Simon!

I guess you are staying at Birubi Beach caravan park. In nor easter he should be fine at the top end of the beach. In a southerly he should consider Fingal instead or Fishermans Bay. Fingal is easier in any wind.

Hi Sarah hope all is going well with Simon and Adrian and yourself. Boat Harbour would be a good spot.

Cheers

Bill

Hi all, Simon is wondering if anyone knows of a good landing spot in Anna Bay.

Text received this evening from Simon; (inter alia) " rudder fixed and Leopard running with the best of them." "Another roll today in small surf trying not to hit a rock. Camping at Lauriton tonight. Weather permitting , looking to be in Newcastle Monday/Tuesday"

Glad it's all going well and the boats are looking after you well. Have a great time and keep safe, we're all with you in spirit and at least some of us are just wee bit jealous :)

Hi all,
Just a quick post and some photo's added. Having a nice restful day and a sleep on a real bed but still sand appears :). The kayaks are both handling the conditions well, fully loaded they both track well on a wave and handle rebound with ease. A great trip although only one day of not punching into a southerly is starting to test our patience and that was the first day, despite what the weather forecast says ;).
No wet exits yet and two and a half rolls completed (the half was done in shallow water and I may or may not have used the bottom to push up a little ;)).
Almost halfway and with some good weather should finish in a little over a week all going well.
Bye for now.
Simon.

Text from Simon today (inter alia) - "Trip going well, mostly rain & headwinds, day off today in Coffs, hoping for better weather to put in longer miles".

Simon,
Annie and I wish both you and Adrian all the best for your coming adventure. We will be with you in spirit as you paddle south. May you have fair winds and calm seas all the way. Stay safe!
