Hi all,
Now that most of us have paddled with most of us and we are all comparatively new to each other, I think it's high time we organized a social event so we can tell tall stories and eat and drink some stuff. It would also be good to have that sort of dialogue where we can thrash out trips, issues and events. I have no suggestions so far and no idea of time so I await your opinions and suggestions. I also understand the impossibility of getting everyone together at the one time so we might…

I am now officially an ASS man! The Assateague is in the shed and it is beautiful. I am rostered off this weekend so if anyone wants to come and have a paddle somewhere or have a go of this awesome boat then let me know. I am now RUDDERLESS!

RnR 2009 is now over and I have to say I had a great time. I'm glad half the clan caught up with each other there although I don't know what happened to Owen. Someone said you were there but when I looked I couldn't find you on either day.
I got a trip in with Gibbo and Selim but though I spent plenty of time with John, we didn't paddle together. For me, having you clansmen there made a big difference compared to RnR 2008 where I was very much alone except for some casual acquaintances.
When n…

Hi all,
Since the last Rob Mercer training was so well received and everyone is keen to follow on from this, I have managed to coax Rob's partner Mark Sundin into contributing next time. He has agreed to bring a trailer with 11 boats on it for us to test. This will be a good opportunity to test drive some elite boat brands and gain valuable experience. I expect the klan to be preparing to advance sea skills so let's make this a short term goal. We will get Rob and Mark up for sea skills trainin…

I just want to add this post to welcome the 'new' additions to the Klan and thank everyone for getting behind this. We now have 12 members and it is my experience that organizations reach a critical mass where new members keep arriving without as much effort as finding the original few. I think this clan should never reach a size where it's unmanageable but having a good pool of paddlers available means we shouldn't have to paddle alone any more.
I see many lone paddlers out on the water who are…

This weeks training paddle was loads of fun. I met up with John at Swansea channel boat ramp at 6pm and we headed up the channel into the lake. There was a 20kn headwind which made the going slow and very bumpy, particularly in Belmont Bay but it was good training. We turned around after Green Point and rode the tide and wind back. It was dark by the time we wit the channel again but it was perfect paddling and a peaceful way to finish the day. We look forward to more of these with more clanster…

It's no longer just me. John Anderson has joined and is probably waiting patiently for ANYTHING to happen. Since I've been slack I am going to get back into a paddling routine which means I have to burn some k's. That means mindless up and down in the Lake. Starting this Sunday I will be kicking off from Eleebana boat ramp at 7:00 am and paddling until it hurts which will be about 300 yards. Dobbo might be there in the Gecko but David Gribbins will be at church so that probably leaves me. It's n…

So far there's only me.
If you're a kayaker from the Lake Macquarie or Hunter areas and you want to keep in touch with other paddlers, organise trips or paddling partners then this might be a useful resource. For general kayaking there's plenty of good resources like Rjimlad's Kayaking World, a classic, or the NSW Seakayaking Club.
I'm not sure how many paddlers are out there from the Hunter or even how many can use the net properly but this Ning site is an attempt to see if they can be organi…
