Thanks Bill. Got a short paddle in with Owen and Anne. Or should I say, got a long morning tea in! My big weekend was scotched by bloody stocktake at work otherwise I would have organized a klan outing up your way. I'm looking forward to getting s...

Brad, Annie and I are just going out for a quickie around the Wangi Point area 1st thing in the morning; 1st salt water immersion of the "Carrot" (Annie's Avocet). We have a commitment at midday, so we have to be back home by around 11.30.

Thank you guys for the welcome.
Brad, not sure when I will take a roadtrip and come south for a paddle with you.
I hear the weather is still a bit "cold"? :-)
About the Impex: I paddle that brand as much as I paddle others; I am slave to no brand :-)
One rule: no rudders for me.
My favorite ride at the moment is my Chinese made tippy kayak, I named it "Mockpool" coz I stuck a bunch of starfish decals over the deck and a big Chinese flag on the hull.
It's nothing like the Assateague.

Hi Brad,

Only three more sleeps to go until I get my lustful, feverish hands on Clementine, the orange Nordkapp.......

PS, thanks for pointing Mark my way, it's much appreciated.

Thanks Brad Its good to find a site for local sea kayakers. My wife and I paddle mostly in Port Stephens ,so if there is any interest in day trips here maybe we could do a group paddle either on a week end or possibly thru the week(rosters permitting).

Hey Brad,

I am ready to paddle. John and I have discussed a Thursday afternoon paddle. Does this suit?

Profile Information

About Me:
I am consumed by kayaking. I love the boats, the stuff, the fear, the adrenaline and the drudgery. I love the company and chatter, a hot cup of tea and a shared bit of bun. I love to paddle in the rain and cold spray in the face. I love the clarity of thought, the emptiness of mind and the toll on the body. I love how paddling is zen. Dhamma.

Klan Social

Hi all,

Now that most of us have paddled with most of us and we are all comparatively new to each other, I think it's high time we organized a social event so we can tell tall stories and eat and drink some stuff. It would also be good to have that sort of dialogue where we can thrash out trips, issues and events. I have no suggestions so far and no idea of time so I await your opinions and suggestions. I also understand the impossibility of getting everyone together at the one time so we might… Continue

The Eagle Has Landed

I am now officially an ASS man! The Assateague is in the shed and it is beautiful. I am rostered off this weekend so if anyone wants to come and have a paddle somewhere or have a go of this awesome boat then let me know. I am now RUDDERLESS!

Rock n Roll Over

RnR 2009 is now over and I have to say I had a great time. I'm glad half the clan caught up with each other there although I don't know what happened to Owen. Someone said you were there but when I looked I couldn't find you on either day.

I got a trip in with Gibbo and Selim but though I spent plenty of time with John, we didn't paddle together. For me, having you clansmen there made a big difference compared to RnR 2008 where I was very much alone except for some casual acquaintances.

When n… Continue

Next Training

Hi all,

Since the last Rob Mercer training was so well received and everyone is keen to follow on from this, I have managed to coax Rob's partner Mark Sundin into contributing next time. He has agreed to bring a trailer with 11 boats on it for us to test. This will be a good opportunity to test drive some elite boat brands and gain valuable experience. I expect the klan to be preparing to advance sea skills so let's make this a short term goal. We will get Rob and Mark up for sea skills trainin… Continue

Update

I just want to add this post to welcome the 'new' additions to the Klan and thank everyone for getting behind this. We now have 12 members and it is my experience that organizations reach a critical mass where new members keep arriving without as much effort as finding the original few. I think this clan should never reach a size where it's unmanageable but having a good pool of paddlers available means we shouldn't have to paddle alone any more.
I see many lone paddlers out on the water who are… Continue
