Because of the proliferation of spamming scumbags, I have decided all new members are to be verified first. This means a new member will have to be an actual kayaker to join and not a webcam girl/pornstar. Of course, webcam girls/pornstars who do paddle are more than welcome. This is an equal opportunity klan after all. The only discrimination we make is in favour of kayakers.

How are they verified?

The only verification I will use is to ensure they are not spammers. I would really prefer to have members who are kayakers from Nelson Bay to Broken Bay as I think the klan should only be about people who paddle together. The purpose of this move is only to vet members from spammers.

I have done the same on the Manning site, and now members have to be approved by me.

Interesting point about only having members who paddle together, I have had Bob Mitchell from Rafta Kayaks join, and obviously I am biased, since I paddle one of his kayaks, but personally I am ok with outsiders joining along as they add value to the site through advice etc. Being based in Taree the access to manufacturers or kayak shops is non-existent, without having to drive at least 2 1/2 hours, so access to professionals like Bob is a bonus.

Having said that though, primarily though the site needs to be about getting out and paddling together.

Agreed. I would never refuse genuine requests from outsiders, particularly those who add prestige and value like Bob.
The Manning site will take a fair while to become useful and most likely will need you to be up there and finding local paddlers just like we did with this klan. Once you settle in, let's organize a trip up and maybe do some promotion as well. That should get your members up.
